Mais pourquoi faire ?!!

Et pour y couler de la résine transparente ! C'est la 1ere fois que j'utilisais de la résine, j'appréhendais un peu parce que j'avais pas trop trop le droit à l'erreur pour cette 1ere fois...

Donc j'ai commencé par badigeonner de résine le trou et les poissons, puis j'ai rempli le fond en y plaçant les poissons.

Le gros poisson tenait tout seul, mais j'ai dû usé d'une ruse pour placer le petit poisson à base de carton et d'une aiguille.
Il faisait froid chez moi, donc ça a mis du temps pour se solidifier un peu.

Ce matin, je me suis réveillée et j'étais ravie ! C'était tout beau et ça tenait bien en place, yeah ! C'est parti pour la couche finale !

Je fais mes préparatifs, je verse dans le trou, il y a quelques bulles, mais j'arrive à les enlever.
Je couvre pour protéger, et j'ai envie de regarder à quoi ça ressemble 15min après. J'ai bien fait parce qu'il y a eu plein de petites bulles qui se sont formées !

Pas de panique, j'utilise le décapeur thermique en restant à distance pour les faire éclater. Mais ça marchait pas et il y avait encore plus de bulles 😭
C'était un peu la panique ! Je prends une petite aiguille à coudre pour les percer et les évacuer. Et là je me rends compte que la surface a commencé à se solidifier avec les bulles 😬
Alors j'ai commencé à enlever des morceaux de résine toute molle, c'était la catastrophe, ça ne faisait qu'empirer 😱

Bon, j'ai arrêté le désastre, j'ai accepté qu'il y ait des bulles, et puis finalement ça rend ok. La surface n'est pas aussi lisse que ce que j'imaginais, il y a quelques bulles si on regarde bien, mais c'est quand même réussi.

Et voilà ! J'ai un petit aquarium terrestre maintenant !!!!

This epoxy shelf may be sagging a little. It is a sort of "river table" shelf. In fact I stuck some UV resin fish in it. The "rebar" is just torn up bits of black walnut sheets I bought that were rejects. They were of uneven thickness and so forth. So it is not necessarily as reinforcing as when I use aluminum and brass tubing as my "rebar", as I have done before. Also those times I have used fiberglass or polypropylene fibers, but not here.

So, da haben wir nun einmal ein fertiges 6er Set Perlen und die Perlen, die ich gestern angesetzt hab und heute rausholen konnte. Bin ziemlich zufrieden. Glaube, meiner Mama werden sie gefallen.

Sie sind gefüllt mit allerlei Glitzerkram und kleineren Perlen, die ich vom Basteln hier noch rumliegen hatte. In der Grünen ist sogar Moos.

Something I cast in epoxy using a commercially purchased mold. I coated the mold with mold release compound, then dusted the mold with green, gold, and blue mica pigments. I filled the mold with epoxy resin I had colored black with mica pigment.

Make a candle, burn a candle. In a candlestick one had already made from epoxy. The candle is scented red cedar. The pith of red cedar is often a beautiful bright purple when freshly cut. Alas, I believe it is an ephemeral hue.

(Aside: if you want a wood whose hue improves with age and sunlight, I believe the classic is cherry.)
