  1. A 2022 avian #H5N1 #influenza A virus from clade 2.3.4.4b attaches to and replicates better in #human respiratory #epithelium than a 2005 H5N1 virus from clade 2.3.2.1

Source: BioRxIV, AbstractBackground: Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5 viruses of the A/Goose/Guangdong/1/1996 (GsGd) lineage pose significant global risks to wildlife, domestic animals, and humans. Recent cross-species transmission events to mammals, including humans, highlight this risk.…

And we also had a variant of your pathway C of #epithelial fold formation : folding by *tensile* mechanical #buckling

(Note: these are my hands on the photo, so technically this is my own's only and single published experiment!)

  11. "Overall, our data suggest that the orientation of spindles in the epithelium plane requires a threshold level of mechanical tension at intercellular junctions."

  16. Did you know that starting a high-fat #diet causes an adaptation of the #intestinal #epithelium within only 24 hours?

In this interesting study, Jacob Enriquez and colleagues at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center used physiological metrics and single-cell transcriptomics to interrogate the intestinal epithelial cell response to a high-fat diet in mice.

  18. @RouxJ Hi, few comments: I think this is a terrible picture choice to represent #Alzheimer's, furthering unhelpful stereotypes, and 2) you don't link to the #study here ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/ which was 3) in *mice* not humans, using chemical damage to #nasal #epithelium and 4) doesn't say anything about nosepicking, and 5) the study didn't find any increase in #AD #pathology: "we could not detect C. pneumoniae inclusions in the brain [...] did not detect any evidence of distinct Aβ deposits"
