  1. The phenomenon of “epistemic closure” was prominent in the recent referendum “debate”. The 'No' camp was increasingly confined in a bubble of their own making. Anything that conflicted with their beliefs was viewed as part of a conspiracy. Fact-checkers were attacked, if what they revealed did not match beliefs (which was often the case).
