I've finally built out a small solar-powered #meshtastic box so I can mount it up in a tree in my yard to get the most range out of it.

There's a perfect dead branch that isn't shaded by leaves that I've got my eye on.

I don't have roof access, so this is the best I can do, but my flat is in a relatively high point in the city already.

Even just with this indoors and at ground level I'm getting ~3 KM of range through the #Oxford city center, so my hope with properly mounting it is that I can get all the way over to the #EOF #hackerspace.

The #Oxford #EOF hackspace hasn't yet set up a proper outdoor antenna, but we were already able to get some decent long-range #Meshtastic communication by just holding our antenna out high near the window!

The #Oxford #ElectronicMusic meet up at #EOF was a ton of fun and a bunch of people came out despite the terrible weather.

I hope even more interested folks keep coming out!

Being an old Apple/Mac OS X Server fan and having done web development for quite some time, I always think #Apache #Cayenne and its #CayenneModeler are looking really sexy. I've gotta make a project using it at some point. #ORM #Java #databases #WebObjects #EOF #EOModeler

my #OpenBSD resume script is a bit more complicated.

/etc/apm/resume:
pkill -x ssh ftp
/sbin/ifconfig em0 -inet down
/sbin/ifconfig iwm0 -nwid
/sbin/ifconfig iwm0 lladdr random
(sleep 60; smtpctl schedule all) &

I kill off any ssh and ftp connections immediately, instead of waiting for them to time out.

I down the em0 interface, which I hardly ever use for $reasons.

-nwid will remove any manual wifi config, so auto-join will kick in and join any network I have saved.
