This is so strange, Malibu trying to get bids for third party people to run its EOC in the case of a disaster/emergency. I really do wonder how they expect people to parachute in -- during the middle of a catastrophic disaster -- and figure out how the city organizes its operations and who to talk to? 🤔

And these folks apparently won't have much contact with the city ahead of any disaster.

"During the Palisades Fire, both formal and informal Emergency Management Mutual Aid was brought in, which helped to maintain adequate staffing levels. However, a more robust back up plan for EOC staffing is needed.

The City is seeking to establish an on-call list of contractors with extensive EOC experience who could participate in periodic planning meetings and assist with EOC activations when needed. It is understood that not every perspective contractor can guarantee availability at the time of need. When notified about high-risk conditions, the City intends to reach out to the list of on-call contractors to check availability."

Over the years, Malibu has experienced numerous wildfires that necessitated the evacuation of some or all of its residents as well as the City’s Emergency Operations Center. The 2018 Woolsey Fire burned nearly half of the City, required the evacuation of the entire population, and the City’s EOC. In December 2024, hundreds of residents were evacuated during the Franklin Fire, and the City’s EOC evacuated to Calabasas. On January 7, 2025, the Palisades Fire required the evacuation of thousands of residents, and the City’s EOC evacuated to Agoura Hills, then Westlake Village, then Camarillo, then Pepperdine University before finally coming back to City Hall.

Enhance Operations (3): Duty Officer plus few essential personnel focused on situational awareness.
Partial Activation (2): EOC is partially staffed, limited or partial liason support and technical specialist
Full Activation (1): A General Staff positions activated, including applicable liason / 24 hour operations

Wie bei einigen "Giga Copper"-Geräten. Scheint auf der gleichen Basis-Firmware des chipset zu beruhen. Das trifft dann vermutlich auch auf die ALLNET EOC200 zu, falls das mal jemand braucht.

#Teardown-Time! Manche Hersteller sind ein Mysterium. Muss mein Ethernet über Koax umgestalten, und bin auf "Digital Devices EOC 2000" gestoßen. G.hn Wave2 mit angebenen 2 Gbit brutto - einbaubar in die üblichen Gerätedosen, quasi winzig.

Die Geräte laufen gut und haben naturgemäß mein Interesse geweckt, weswegen ich weiter recherchiert habe. Im Thread Bilder davon und was ich über das Mysterium herausfinden konnte...
