    Cada vez pesa más la idea de que no todo lo que guardamos debería terminar siendo analizado, monetizado o expuesto. Y con las fotos eso se vuelve todavía más sensible, porque no solo hablamos de recuerdos: muchas veces también contienen metadatos, lugares, rostros, rutinas e incluso información que preferimos mantener lejos de miradas ajenas.

    Por eso me gustan los servicios y aplicaciones FOSS y Ente Photos no es la excepción, porque no somos el producto, y cuando un servicio te respeta, es razonable, transparente y acompañado de software de calidad, no veo el problema en adquirir dicho servicio.

    Sus precios me parecen razonables para lo que ofrece: 50 GB por $2.49, 200 GB por $4.99 y 1 TB por $9.99 al mes. Además, Ente ofrece 10 GB gratis de base, y su programa de referidos da 10 GB extra tanto a quien invita como a quien se registra/suscribe con el código. Así que, usando mi código YAKSHA, tendrías: 10 GB base + 10 GB por referido = 20 GB desde el inicio. Nisiquiera tienes que pagar por el servicio, incluso a mí personalmente me costo llenar esos 20 GB de espacio, Animate que de todas formas no tienes nada que perder.

    Výměna hardwaru proběhla a s čerstvým železem se chystá pár věcí, o kterých chceme dát vědět.

    Vedle Immich, který u nás už běží, zkoušíme další cestu k soukromým fotkám — Ente Photos. V čem je rozdíl?
    Ente je end-to-end šifrované. Fotky se zašifrují ještě na vašem zařízení, dřív než opustí telefon nebo počítač. Na server dorazí jen zašifrovaná data. Ani my jako správci se k nim nedostaneme, i kdybychom chtěli. Žádné skenování, žádná analýza, žádné reklamní profily. Immich je skvělý na správu a organizaci fotek, ale vaše data na serveru vidět můžeme. U Ente ne.
    Další výhoda — Ente ukládá data přímo na S3 úložiště připojené k našemu serveru, ne na lokální disky. Lepší škálovatelnost, jednodušší zálohy.
    Open source, funguje na webu, Androidu, iOS i desktopu. Službu teď testujeme a ladíme. Až bude připravená, představíme ji pořádně — s ceníkem a návodem.

    Pracujeme taky na kompletně novém rozhraní pro náš webhosting. A hlavně — bude celé postavené na open source technologiích. Žádné proprietární panely, žádné vendor lock-in. Víc prozradíme brzy.

    So, unser Bilderhoster wurde jetzt das hier mehrfach empfohlene #entephotos . Weniger Platz als die ebenfalls empfohlene hetzner nextcloud, aber dafür deutlich laientauglicher.

    Aber hat jemand eine Ahnung, wie ich die Samsung-App dazu bringe, im Hintergrund Fotos zu sichern? Sie stoppt hier sobald der Bildschirm aus geht oder ich eine andere App länger offen habe.

    How do you organize your stuff? I currently use a #Nextcloud for files and #Immich / #EntePhotos (currently testing around between those two) for photos and attach my Immich library to my Nextcloud using external folders.

    I always try to minimize the amount of applications (less administrative burden) I use and would prefer to only use the Nextcloud for everything, but I can't find a good way to have good media management like I have with Immich...but without Immich.

    Moje ostatnie odkrycie? #EntePhotos 🤩 Panie, jakie to wygodne! Na razie póki co wystarcza mi darmowe 10GB, ale planuję przekonać rodzinkę do porzucenia #GooglePhotos na rzecz Ente.     Wracając do mojego filmu z setupem degoogle / deapple – chciałbym napisać o nim coś więcej.

    Po wielu dniach testowania i szukania kompromisów – w końcu mam konfigurację, z którą żyję na co dzień. Staram się łączyć FOSS z realiami iOS. Nazywam to „pragmatycznym puryzmem”.

    Pogoda: OSS Weather
    AI do prostych rzeczy: Duck.ai, do obliczeń i kodowania (bez danych osobowych) DeepSeek
    Komunikacja z rodziną: Messenger (ale zablokowałem trackery Mety przez NextDNS)

    Co zrobiłem w iOS:
    Odciąłem iCloud, usunąłem domyślne aplikacje (nie tylko schowałem), wyłączyłem Siri, Apple Intelligence, dostęp do lokalizacji dla aplikacji, śledzenie i spersonalizowane reklamy.

    Co myślicie? Co byście dorzucili albo zmienili? Chętnie poczytam uwagi.

    I own my images, I manage them, I decide who sees them — without sacrificing comfort. In some ways even more convenient than my old locked-in setup.

    #EntePhotos has its own set of issues: You can't use local storage at all, you have to use #S3-compatible services.
    Luckily I have #Ceph #RadosGW available, but for those without? Renting object storage, or running MinIO seems a little excessive.
    Yes it transitioned to source available, but that doesn't remove the smell of "our infrastructure, or none".

    The long march toward de-googlization continues. Poking around with #EntePhotos, evaluating it as a possible replacement for Google Photos, and so far I'm really quite impressed with it! Their free tier offers 10GB of end-to-end encrypted photo storage *without* ads! Any of y'all tried 'em yet?
