After a dry plate success, a couple a near fail, and an actual fail. Probably both two stops under. The sunlight was coming through a perspex window, and I'm not sure if that meant less uv than I expected.
First frame is a #KidakP300 vintage plate, the second a modern #JLaneDryPlate (very hnder exposed, but the contrast in the leaf is exactly what I wanted ) -

My four plates from this morning. I think you can guess wh8ch was in backwards. These are a little softer than I've come to expect. Not sure if that's missed focus, or glass for ground glass being too thick maybe. Need to test. Still acceptable though.

From the test roll of the new copy of the Ensign Cameo. Everything seems good.

I call this one "Badly Framed Guitar", missed it by a couple of inches! I'd forgotten my loupe, this was just down the road from our house and I was rushing as the people in the house were chatting by their front door.

Dev'ed my two walkabout rolls (chilled dev 2 or three degrees below target and adjusted time as it warmed up, there come out fine).
The new #EnsignCameo seems to be light leak free at least. 1/25s shutter and aperture seem good too going by exposures (everything pretty much metered out at 1/25th, walk only lasted 90mins). Focus looks basically good, won't be certain until I scan them.
The MPP photos look nice too, will be fun to compare (used some of the same xcenes) -

It's #NewCameraDay , well sort of. I found a second #EnsignCameo for £60. It came with 6 rather rusted , but salvageable plate holders and a nice case. It has cleaned up nicely. I need to test the bellows.
It has some intriguing differences from my original copy. The hard stop for infinity works differently (the lens release must be pushed to put the lens back, rather than to pull it past infinity (though it has an option to have the other behaviour by reversing the focal distance plate) -

The same scene, 3 media (check alt text). I think I missed focus, also had lots of rise+shift, and a wobbly tripod in a breeze.
- Kodak P300 glass plate
- JLane glass plate (blue+uv)
- Modern ilford fp4 jn 120 (cropped) -

@tapasinthesun ooh, looks like an early version of a folding plate camera (like my #ensigncameo)

And in other news, I got a film pack holder for the #EnsignCameo. Why? I'm going to convert it to a rear loadable plate holder. Why?... maybe... one day...wet plate.

@bosak I am sooo tempted by the vh. My little bergheil rip off #EnsignCameo has given me the craving. Realistically though, I'd need to sell of my hassy, and I'm not sure I can do that.

These are from the Ensign Cameo using a Rada 120 roll film back. This version of the "Little Wing" is a lot sharper than the glass plate version, I put that down to the higher shutter speeds and being about to stop the lens down a bit (iso400 giving a few more options than iso2). The plates are incredibly fine grained, but trickier to expose a sharp image.

This is a quick snap and invert of the plates from last week. Should scan well, may print ok too. The one on the right is from the second day. I thought the extra self shadowed bit might be a bit too much, but in the end I think I quite like it. Both are good, but I like the extra shaping the extra light gave the second one.

Today's #IlfordFP4 1971 glass plates, taken with the #EnsignCameo. The dark spots are defects from bad handling. The padlock image used a plate holder I tried to refurb and may have a light leak. I'm still, pleased. The lens is excellent, and exposures were all good. I keep forgetting to make sure the bellows are forward (causes "vignettes").
It's tonnes of fun to use. I need to work out how to make plates (I have info, need to figure out drying) -

Well well well! #IlfordFP4 glass plate (no plus!) from 1971, ended up at about iso 3 (down from 160), hc110-b 8.5 minute's. Taken on a 1934 #EnsignCameo yesterday morning. I reckon it'll print!
