  1. Would I be wrong to assume that you are S.O.L. if you want to buy a modern stoneware slow cooker these days (like: semi-vintage Rival Corningware Crock-Pot)?

  2. One of the most amusing aspects of the Email #Enshittening project, at least for me, is that of all my emial addresses (Gmail, Protonmail, and of course Outlook), the Yahoo email I first set up in the early 90's is now my most useful and functional. After years of using it as a sacrificial account for websites it is fast becoming my most used account. Huh . . .

  3. Don't Be Evil, TL;DR: @pluralistic explores the enshittening of the internet, where online services have become increasingly terrible, and argues that it's not due to moral decay but rather the result of institutional actions and the erosion of competition. He emphasizes the importance of fighting for a new, good internet that prioritizes human liberation.

  4. For whatever ungodly reason, my wife is enamored of the puck-style icecube trays. Unfortunately, the are about as far from "well made" or "durable" as an icetray can be. Thus far, the longest I've known one to last is three or four fillings - the worst died when trying to empty from its FIRST filling. The below is one that I tried to get the cubes out of, this morning. I think it lasted three emptyings before catastrophically failing?

  5. Honestly, going to Amazon to buy something and discovering the selection overwhelmed by identical products with brand names like "BLORTWASSER" and "FINDLESMATCH" kind of turns me off them as a vendor. #enshittening

  6. When someone asks you for illustrative examples of #enshittening, one needn't offer up things as complicated as kitchen appliances, icecube trays are sufficient.

When I was a kid in the 70s/80s, icecube trays could easily last for decades. Whereas, the trays my wife bought a couple months ago have already started failing due to the thermal-stress of BEING FROZEN. Tried to extract icecubes, this morning, and one of the trays EXPLODED rather than giving up its cubes.
