  1. Turned on the new #GitHub "Code Quality" feature that seems to be some extended CodeQL + AI.

It's actually worse than anything #SonarQube gave us. That actually gave really good reports on code smells, regressions and coverage failure. It was reliable.

It really does appear tech companies are replacing everything with expensive, resource intensive systems that give worse results and expect us to pay more @pluralistic #enshitificaton

  2. After today's announcement by Apple in the UK and with the way data security is headed here in the States, I'm creating a "#deshitification to-do list" to remove services from my life that were once useful and may have even initially been founded with the best of intentions. The services on this growing list have now frankly and simply, gone to sh!t due to the childish insecurity, fear, and greed of either their founding fathers or current operating administrations.

    - Amazon Prime
    - Google Apps
    - Microsoft O365
    - iCloud

As @pluralistic has taught us, #enshitificaton has made it harder due to switching costs that not only involves convincing our friends and family to move to federated and more ethical platforms, but in the time and even money it takes to move data, configure self-hosted solutions, and even decide whether anything that we don't directly control is trustworthy of our data and its associated metadata.

"Ethical" "do no harm" mission statements burned me once. I won't get fooled again.

  3. Any recommendations for a good open ? I have an oldish Kindle Paperwhite (from 2018) and it's software updates are a shining example of and . The interface is getting worse and I have less control over it then I did when I bought it. It is also annoyingly sluggish now (I assume newer models are fare better).
