I think one of the issues here, is that people were in 'discussions' about changing the kick off times, based on weather forcast and other factors, both teams were not happy, and even I saw a problem with a 7pm (UK time) midday(Ish) mexico kick off time being very hot and humid, no coach would choose to play in that. The press / media get hold of it all and twist the story, then have to backtrack when an official announcement is made.
This is before you factor in Social Media, which is even worse at disseminating accurate information.

Kick-off for the Mexico—England World Cup match in Azteca, Mexico City tomorrow is likely to move from 6 p.m. local time to 12 p.m. based on the weather forecast. It's a boon for U.K.-based England fans, who will get to watch the game at the more respectable time of 7 p.m. on Sunday vs. 1 a.m. on Monday.
