UK just made balcony (plug-in) solar legal and it’s already on sale, with kits starting around $1,000–1,300. Germany’s had a million Balkonkraftwerke for years. NZ is racing ahead.
Meanwhile more than three million Aussie renters and apartment dwellers are locked out of solar because our rules are stuck in the past.
Portable panels you can plug in, take with you when you move, slash bills by $300–400 a year, and pay for themselves in about three years. No electrician needed.
Energy Ministers need to set clear standards (safety shut-off, around 800 W cap, simple registration) and let people power their own homes.
If it’s good enough for the Poms, Germans and Kiwis…#Solar #ClimateAction #EnergyJustice #BalconySolar #Renewables

I am a native Malaysian person, specifically from the Sabah region. It seems that, although I am a native of this land, it feels like nothing belongs to me here. Capitalists and cronies own the land; our rights to electricity are being denied, and our voices are constantly suppressed or harassed.

I am preparing an article about public participation in environmental assessment in Flanders and the Netherlands.
The dataset of publicly available comments is rich enough for additional publications, though that requires teamwork.

Ignoring for a moment that Norway could exceed the carbon reduction of this project simply by sealing off a bit of extraction (Norway can simply forgo some income to entirely avoid any such "dilemma" as a matter of net effects) this is a very interesting conjunction and outcome.

Pleased to share my article "Energy Justice and Renewable Rikers." It is the lead article of the latest volume of the #MiamiLawReview. It draws in part on all the #history research I did for #NamingGotham. TLDR: If we start by prioritizing justice, we think about problems (and their answers) in new ways.

When central institutions fail in the face of adversity and communities are left to cope on their own (repeatedly) they have to become resilient. But that is a "coerced resilience" vs. a "chosen resilience" with important justice implications according to this new paper. Very interesting.

"The oil and gas giant cut its #emissions pledge and plans a greater production of #oil and gas over the next seven years compared with previous targets.
The huge annual profit led to renewed calls for a toughened #WindfallTax, as oil companies reap rewards from higher gas prices while many households and businesses struggle to cope with a sharp rise in #energy bills."

"Systems thinking!"
Minor details from one perspective are major factors from another. All perspectives need to be included in a successful accounting, a balanced equation. Or at least so some of us (me!) think.
Here's how that looks in practice.
