Should billionaires, as a concept, be allowed to exist?

(To be clear, I mean "should a single person be allowed to have a personal wealth of $1B USD or more", not "should we actually literally kill them" or anything like that.)

I'm genuinely curious if anyone who answers yes can convince me I'm wrong. Or if I can convince you you're wrong. Genuine discussion welcome!

California is pondering a 1-time 5% tax on families worth us$1.1b. 60% of NY residents (not just NYC) favour free, universal childcare until pre-K, with an explicit tax on the rich to fund it.

So, I want wayyy more, to end the 1%.

Someone at Google posted a meme celebrating the possibility of Sergey and Larry becoming the first trillionaires, and I couldn't let that one pass by - it got an #EndBillionaires response with a little more text, and then I started getting replies from my supposedly intelligent colleagues basically arguing for trickle down economics.
