Having just read several recent #books/#memoirs about #Alzheimer's, I recommend #AmyBloom's, #DashaKiper's, and #SandeepJauhar's. Each tells the story of loves and losses (to borrow from Bloom's subtitle) in different and powerful ways.

I wrote a #memoir about my father's early-onset #Alzheimer's with the #logopenic #variant (word-finding) -- called Finding the Right Words -- only to/in order to (?) realize that sometimes, maybe a lot of times, the most important #caregiving is not about words at all. Scout, my chihuahua and I think all #dogs, know this simple and hard thing, which #humans -- at least this human -- struggle to understand and embrace.

One more reason -- and an extremely important one at that -- NOT to change the clocks! It's so hard on people with #dementia, especially those who experience #Sundowning, and their #caregivers. November is #AlzheimersAwarenessMonth and #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth. Let's do better by this community -- 6.7 million and counting -- that already has so many challenges.
