  1. Scoutydog was unresponsive last night. Walked into him having a dream about running, sat and gave pets for 10 minutes until realizing he wasnt waking up. Wife sat vigil till 3am after which he started to get up and about.

Up and running this morning. #EndOfLifeCare in general is not something western society prepares well for, #pet included.

    #grief and #joy with a side of #exhaustion.

  3. Me & my family can relate to what Sharman experienced with her Mother's death. Sharman became a death doula after her Mom died.

We still can't afford any family burial plots. We keep Dad's urn with his memorial altar at home.
I got into death doula work in late 2023, months after Dad died.

When you're poor it is super expensive to be sick & it's also expensive to die. Funeral industry is a racket. I had to take out a small loan to cover all of Dad's funeral/memorial services.

  9. CW: Pet Loss / Euthanasia

Tomorrow is the hardest day: saying goodbye to my sweet tuxedo cat She just turned 18 (88 in human years)!

She is the 5th rescue cat I've adopted and helped transition with dignity. Wednesday is her final peaceful appointment.

Her health fell fast: cancer and liver issues... Using the H5M2 Quality of Life Scale, her comfort score dropped below 35. Her struggle is too great!

She is weak and falls down when standing so I bring her food, water, and do daily towel-baths. Her purrs are constant, but her body is tired. It is time for peace!

I find comfort in the BTS song Spring Day. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. Thank you, my friend, for 18 years of love! Until we meet again.

  11. End‑of‑life decisions in cancer care are guided by four core ethical principles — here’s what they mean for patients.

Autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice shape how care teams support patients and families during difficult moments. This guide explains these principles simply and shows how they influence real‑world decisions.

  14. The first body Billy Campbell buried on his land was the stillborn child of friends.

Later, a colleague’s sudden death solidified his mission: connecting people to the land.

It’s the essence of what they do.

  16. Folk with dementia stuggle to see the benefits?

    Phewww.

Not sure who is going to see the "benefits" to the patient.

But it's forced onto vulnerable and dependent folk?

Got this scenario covered in your #AdvancedCareDirectives?

  18. @Christo
I do respect Liz Carr's opinion, but I would be more convinced if she were to show me how not having an Assisted Dying bill would have any influence on the people that already make the terminally ill feel like they are a burden. She feels that would get worse, but since bastards always will be bastards I don't see that it would make any difference!

  23. Providing patient-centered care at the end of life: a doctor's perspective

We are often faced with difficult decisions about withholding or withdrawing care for our patients. It can be a tough and emotionally charged situation, but I believe it's important to have open and honest conversations with patients and their loved ones about their options and what they want.

  26. Experience the unique beauty of hospice care

As a hospice volunteer, I have had the opportunity to witness the unique beauty of end-of-life care. In this setting, the focus shifts away from aggressive medical interventions and towards the interpersonal connections and support that can bring comfort to those in their final days.
