  1. That not being rendered in the GUI actually made figuring this shit out even harder.

    #bash also doesn't render them.

Thankfully #7zip showed them as "[]" for whatever reason and allowed me to copy the foldername raw into a hex editor to see what was going on.

    I hate #encodings and especially #UTF16...

  2. "Rather than inserting logical bugs, adversaries can attack the encoding of source code files to inject vulnerabilities.

These adversarial encodings produce no visual artifacts.

The trick is to use Unicode control characters to reorder tokens in source code at the encoding level."

  3. 🔍🎉 Breaking News: Programmers need to know about encodings! Who would've thought? 🙄 This groundbreaking revelation is brought to you by #Joel #Spolsky, because apparently #common #sense needed an article. 🧠✨

  4. weird issue:
Acrobat accessibility check keeps flagging a few letters in this paragraph for encoding errors. Using Adobe Myriad, no subsetting, trying different PDF versions, all to no avail. The characters render correctly, but in the tags panel a few are missing. They also miss if copying the text.
    Ideas?

  5. Hmmm...I wouldn't try this, but it has its use cases.

"Linux 5.2 was released over one year ago and with it, a new feature was added to support optimized case-insensitive file name lookups in the Ext4 filesystem. [...] [T]his seems like a good time as any to take a look on why this was merged, and how to put it to work."
