This is a nice no-code task. It would help a lot if someone could step in and #contribute.

⏰⏰⏰ Much earlier removal of #EncFS support than planned
✍️ It will happen before #Debian 14

🚀 gocryptfs support merged into Back In Time
Local backup profiles can now use gocryptfs for encryption instead of the deprecated EncFS.
Will be included in the upcoming 1.6.0 release within in the next weeks.

Ups, #boxcryptor is now part of #dropbox !? Wanted to test some scenarios, but creating an new account is no longer possible.
Alternatives: #cryptomator what else? Should have an App / Software for android, ios, linux, windows.

🇫🇷 Je me tate à remplacer ma config "cloud" actuelle utilisant encfs+rsync.

🇬🇧 I’m looking to maybe replace my old cloud setup build around encfs+rsync. I’d like to replace #encfs by something more modern (secure?) without losing efficiency. I heard about #cryptomator or #cryfs Does anyone has any tip around this?
I’m not looking for the whole stack replacement (no need to speak about nextcloud or any other e2e tools), just the crypto part (those "bucket" are sync in a cloud, but also regularly on cold storage, hence the agnostic requirement.

Thanks. Similar for me with #Cryptomator - hadn't heard of it before. They do look very similar. Cryptomator is maybe more cloud minded from the start, though.
Unfortunately, Cryptomator is not in #Gentoo repository, so I guess I'll stick with #EncFS.
Thanks.

second all of it, but #SyncThing especially - great software that is not as widely known as it should be.
thoughts on using #EncFS to encrypt to the cloud?
-
Verzeichnis verschlüsseln
Ein einzelnes Verzeichnis mit EncFS verschlüsseln, um private Daten zu verstecken.

🤦
I just wanted to move my @nextcloud #Backups into my #Syncthing folder to let the server do the work while I can be offline.Well, I just forgot that this is an #EncFS folder.
-
as final step to move all my data from 5-eyes servers, I need to keep encrypted data on #encfs, ou choose an alternative
it seems #gocryptfs is a spiritual successor of encfs, but also there is #cryfs
any thoughts on this matter?
my use is access encrypted data mainly on pc/laptop, but if it can been decrypted on smartphone (android) it could be cool (using #nextcloud to sync things)

J'utilise #encfs[1] depuis longtemps.

Any recommendations for an encrypted filesystem on a network mount?
- #ecryptfs is not recommended on network mounts
- #encfs has security issues
- #cryfs looks promising, but latency of the base fs gets multiplied by orders of magnitude, which makes it unusable :(Any experience with #gocryptfs perhaps?
