  2. Tfw technical difficulties in a lecture room give your slides on perceptual experience a whole new dimension... 😜 😅

But nevermind - I survived the funky background and even the lights going out in the middle of my talk, and at least will now have a great story to tell! 😄

  3. Nice to start the return to work with a new paper being accepted in Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences

This piece is an examination of #embodiment in #enactive #CognitiveScience, in particular drawing on the work of feminist theorists to argue for a more nuanced appreciation of the multiplex nature of even individual bodies.

  8. "Barrett and Calvo draw from a set of ideas referred to as “4E cognitive science,” an umbrella term for a bunch of theories that all happen to start with the letter “E.” #Embodied #embedded #extended, and #enactive cognition—what they have in common (...) is a rejection of #cognition as a purely brainbound affair. Calvo is also inspired by a fifth “E”: #ecological #psychology, a kindred #spirit to the canonical four"

  13. New #enactive #philosophy paper.

Basil Vassilicos and myself outline an enactive approach to understanding consent.

    Prepint: philpapers.org/rec/VASQOC

We take a lead from Laurie Penny, who noted that “Giving someone your consent...is a little like giving them your attention.”

We use the enactive approach to elucidate such a point of view and contrast it with some extant descriptions of consent in the philosophical literature.

  18. #introduction
A little slow getting to this, still; hi Mastodon!

I do #Philosophy/theory of #CognitiveScience, some work on #ScientificPractice in #Psychology, and bunch of #nerd hobby things.

To cognitive science, and to be honest, life in general, I take an #enactive, #ecological, and/or #embodied perspective.

I co-convene the #ENSOSeminars with Matthew Egbert (not yet of this parish) which will announce themselves from @ensoseminars, and ensoseminars.com/
