For many employees, the deeper concern is cultural: a sense that they are increasingly being treated as data points on a dashboard rather than professionals trusted to manage their own time.
#Privacy has become a mirage in this digital era and this is another example of how corporates are using #surveillance tools on employees.
This is a way to dehumanise people and their work and make them more like slaves.
Look at the level at which they are doing surveillance of employees.
the tool records mouse and keyboard activity and classifies people by how long their systems sit idle. An employee can be tagged “idle” if there is no activity for more than 300 seconds and marked as “away from system” if the laptop remains inactive for 15 minutes
While this news has come out from #cognizant, it's not just them, but many other companies are trying to do similar things. I am aware of a company tracking git commits on a weekly basis to do this. Again the claim was they are doing it to understand the productivity, eventually they ended up using these metrics for performance evaluation.
Irrespective of the method used, these are meant to create fear among employees to make them work like slaves in the modern corporate world.
