After test screenings, about 40mins of footage was cut from “Empire Records”. The story was condensed & re-edited and several characters were completely erased. To this day only about half of that footage has been released as 2003’s “Remix Special Fan Edition DVD”

But I also understand that those don't matter sometimes when the zeitgeist of the time is captured pretty darn accurately (A vinyl record store, attempts at corporate takeover, band of misfits working together--and GWAR!)
