The car takes objective seriously, resorting to extreme and harmful mechanisms of defence, including murdering, paralysing, and torturing people who approach the vehicle. It was a nod to the potential pitfalls of AI.»

Just finished reading “Empire of AI” by Karen Hao, the story of the rise of OpenAI, how it went from non-profit to for-profit, and the insane speed with which AI has become so pervasive. Strikes the right tone of caution re: safety and governance. The multi-billion dollar investments and valuations of these companies is mad. Good read especially if you’re interested in the topic but remain skeptical of those running it.
