What's the difference between sympathy and pity? They're like sister feelings and I wonder if they're actually identical. Both are feelings we have for others - but from a safe distance. They imply whatever happened to someone else, wouldn't happen to us. "I feel sorry for you" instead of "I feel with you". They're hierarchical feelings and imply that we look slightly down on the pitied or sympathized-with person. Is there any difference here? #emotionalgranularity #emotions
