We have lots more going on today at the #EMFCamp #NullSector #TrashCompactor:
This afternoon, James will show you how to live code music with #Strudel, and Laurie will walk you through her synth setup before her performance on Stage D.
And this evening, come along to our Electronic Music Open Mic session - it's like Lightning Talks except with significantly more beeps and bleeps! :blobcatchristmasglowsticks: :apartyblobcat:

This morning's #workout #music is from Adian Quesada with Trio Asesino doing (maybe too) laid-back #jazzFusion #LatinJazz with a definite #funk infusion. Good pace for the evil #burpee regime on the menu today.
https://youtu.be/a0caz6CG7Ro
#KettleBells #BodyWeightTraining10 deficit push up burpees on kettle bell handles
10 alternating single arm swings with heavy kettle bell
#EMOM repeat on the minute for 25 minutes - end with 30 swings instead of 10. Whew! -
I had a good time again. A little quieter than last month, but it was nice to catch up with some friends and hear some great music.
FFRWD (https://www.facebook.com/glyn.roberts.14/) had come all the way from Wales, playing weird stuff, then also from Wales, Obrasendub (https://www.instagram.com/obrasendub/).
Sudden Creation was next, playing the keyboard and singing his funny songs, including "I've never met Vince Clarke", brilliant!
Andy Rogers (https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/andyrogers/the-lodge) was on next. He's played before, and was even better than last time.
Next was a duo called "The Merger". One guy on guitar, and the other operating a synth and laptop, and singing. They were amazing - a mix of thrash metal and breakbeat. I hope they return!
One guy couldn't play because he managed to plug a power supply into the wrong device and blew something :(
Brawny played "again" (sadly i must have missed him last time) a wicked mix of ravey tunes (https://brawny.bandcamp.com/music).
James Glew (https://jamesglew.com/) rounded off the evening with his usual quality.
(Re)listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9SNDb2pOTg thanks to @dotgret

I had a good time again, a little quiet - maybe people were preparing for the https://www.psychicdancehallfest.com at the weekend.
Jollycyde (sp?) started
Filter Zombies (https://filterzombies.com/) were back again, playing great stuff as usual.
Found Object (https://foundobject1.bandcamp.com/) were next.
Then Jon and Libby (https://jonandlibbymusic.blogspot.com/) played both old and brand new tracks, which was wicked.
Valentich (https://valentichofficial.bandcamp.com/) was next. I've not heard him before, and he was great. He had so much equipment, it took him a long time to set up (not that it mattered)!
Drrkbeats (http://www.drrkbeats.com/) was back after being away for a while, and still as good as ever.
Traindeer (https://traindeer.bandcamp.com/) was also back again, and he was even better than last time.
Animal Knights came with her guitar and effects pedals. She was new to me too, and was a nice change with her analog instruments. To round off the night, Stimulus played some drone-y-type stuff on his modular synth.
The organiser James Glew (https://jamesglew.com/) said he's taking the day off tomorrow to prepare for Saturday 😀

Another fine evening at Sunderland's Klang Electronic Music Open Mic Night on Thursday.
I'm trying collaborations with everyone I can.
Here's Johnny X on synth gear and I'm livecoding shaders behind him.

I might do a bit of vjing tomorrow at hagglers corner for Sheffield electronic open mic night, I'm really tired tho.

I had a good time again yesterday.
We had Undead Presidents (https://soundcloud.com/undead-presidents) doing some great techno using an Ableton controller and Mac Mini.
Next were The Blowouts - a couple of friends and the first time they had played out for quite a long time.
Clum (https://linktr.ee/Clum) brought his very small sequencer and did a great live mix.
Rene Fox-Novak (https://remifoxnovak.bandcamp.com/) played some great stuff on his modular synth, controlled by a a tablet.
AM Frequencies (https://amfreq.bandcamp.com/) was on next
Someone i'd not heard before - Filter Sequence (https://filtersequence.bandcamp.com/) did a great job.
Then Filter Zombies (https://filterzombies.com/) was back, this time with much more portable equipment, and without guitar, but still great.
Breo (https://breo2012.bandcamp.com/) was back after a long absence from the event, playing some wicked DnB as usual.
Lastly was Kev Willis (https://soundcloud.com/kev_vekwillis) playing some squelchy techno.
James reminded us about the Psychic Dancehall music festival in #Derby on the 21st March, happening in several locations around the city. Get your tickets here: https://www.psychicdancehallfest.com/

Psychic Dancehall, an Electronic and Experimental #MusicFestival will be happening on 21st March in #Derby, across 3 venues.
Some artists from the Derby #EMOM nights will be there - James Glew, Hexial, and Clum, amongst others.
It looks like a good lineup, including Phil Hartnoll from #Orbital!
I saw him and his son at BangFace a couple of months ago :)

Another #LiveCoding performance spotted at the first #EMOM of 2026 at The Green Pub, London
@synte -
This morning's #workout #music is from Spectrum Road which features Cindy Blackman Santana on #drumKit , Vernon Reid on #guitar , John Medeski on #Keys , and Jack Bruce on #BassGuitar - a tribute to the late great Tony Williams doing #fusion from the #1970s - excessive, but fun.

#Newcastle / North East folks who enjoy live electronic music:
We've got an evening of synth sets and livecoding on Sunday 18th January at The Little Buildings.
I'll be doing some #strudel, and some of the Klang all-stars will be bringing their talents too. We don't have many of these in Newcastle, so come join us for what promises to be a very soulful event.

I had a brilliant night at the open mic night in Sunderland (Klang) last week.
It was a jam and Christmas snacks event.
The highlight for me was playing #Strudel alongside someone with synth gear; I didn't know that was going to be possible.
We matched BPM and I set up a
$: s("nosound - - -")
so that I could nail timing as he established the feel.
Really well balanced and we got chills doing it. I wish it had been recorded.
So 2026 - bring on the co-creation and collaboration!
