For a moment I thought the covers were made from the #emfcamp2024 fabric...

Until today I thought I'd never made it into the pages of the #RaspberryPi Hackspace magazine. But I picked up issue 80 from my partially read magazines pile at lunchtime today and found a very nice mention of my talk 'How to Map Caves' in the article on #emfcamp2024 So I did make it into the mag before it ended. 😀

After watching this video, I'm wondering about how to do similar with a 180° fisheye lenses to take a photo.

I'm guessing it should be possible with with some Python & OpenCV, to flatten the image and virtually pan/tilt/zoom

In the late 80's I had my first part time job. I saved up all through the summer to buy a second hand BBC Micro. It was a great machine, but I really wanted it to play Elite. What an amazingly innovative game that was. Split resolution and a whole galaxy in 32k.

Fast forward to 2024 and fans are still hacking on the Elite engine. Martin Ling gave a great overview at EMF.

@DeltaWye @camstonefaux tangentially, during a conversation at #emfcamp2024 someone mentioned Simgenic's "Chernobyl: The Legacy Continues", which is a control room simulation game that was released in the 90s.

Supposedly, it's fairly hard to recreate the 1986 disaster as it requires some very specific conditions :D

Lessons learned:

- I suck at logistics
- When stuff is in 3 places, the thing I need is somewhere else
- heavy thing is heavy, awkward, but omg fun
- talking that much, next to a rave, drops my voice noticably
- SD cards are garbage
- Having fun means I forget to film stuff
- OMG BASS!
- It was 200% worth the effort!
