What entailed was a nearly two hour-long ad for ai and robots. The what now feels old shtick of 'if you don't hop onto the planet-burning bandwagon, you'll be left behind. Robots will run shelters and do all #SAR.'

    Recent state legislation has aimed to align local land use planning with increasing risks from wildfires, flooding, extreme heat, and other climate-driven hazards. Catastrophic events have exposed gaps between planning, emergency management, and infrastructure decisions. Laws including SB 1241 (wildfire), SB 379 (climate adaptation), SB 99 (residential evacuation routes), and AB 747/1409 (evacuation route assessment) guide these updates. ...

  26. This is so strange, Malibu trying to get bids for third party people to run its EOC in the case of a disaster/emergency. I really do wonder how they expect people to parachute in -- during the middle of a catastrophic disaster -- and figure out how the city organizes its operations and who to talk to? 🤔

    And these folks apparently won't have much contact with the city ahead of any disaster.

  27. @ai6yr I want one too! We live in the wildland urban interface (WUI) in King County which adjoins the south side of Snohomish County.

    Just did a quick search and wound up chatting with a state staffer. Surprise!!! Turns out the King County Wildfire Protection Plan was approved earlier today.

    Might take a day or more but when I get a link I will certainly share it.
