As recipient you are so frantic to stop the harsh klaxon sound that you don't get to read the alert text before it's gone.Likely few users know where to find the emergency-message history list.

Interesting that the #emergencyalert popped up on my phone when I was driving and needed to see the satnav as I was at a junction. Clicked 'OK' to get rid of the alert, did what I had to do, parked up and tried to find the alert to read it, only to find it had vanished into the ether. So, that's it, don't read it immediately and you can't read it at all.
