Was scoping #Twitter / #X just now for Mastodon-related chatter, thinking about the #ads I was scrolling past.
It occurs to me that, as Twitter runs off it's mainstream #advertisers, it actually brings the rest of the site down: back in December 2022, I was noticing ads for blizzard games and people actually selling things, mixed in with all the Nazi and pedo posts that were getting pushed to the forefront. Now, it's pretty much all #scams, #StolenContent sinks, and other #clickbait garbage trying to sneak itself in like it's part of the actual #content.
It's gone from the kind of ads you would see in a place like Times Square to shady hucksters trying to lure you into alleys, to sell you CP, steal your identity, or just waste your time with more ads.

Just wanted to remind everyone, and take a moment to appreciate that #ElonMusk now has #Twitter set up such that everyone sees his posts near the top of their timeline. Going on the site feels a bit like ducking under #ElonMusksButthole and hoping whatever dump he's taking in the last hour or so or however often the world's richest NEET has some dumb take isn't too aggravating.

@artemis @eevee That, and who is migrating: the people who wanted to post on a Mastodon about right-wing stuff are already on Gab and Trump's weird site. We're getting the wave of people who don't want to be around the people #elonmusksbutthole is opening wide to let back in, or are worried that they themselves will be banned from #elonmusksbutthole if they post something that offends him.
Perhaps they're working through a trauma: I try to avoid visiting #elonmusksbutthole as much as possible, and avoided being active on there before that.

I swear this account has the weirdest reach. This server is called YIFF.life, this account is very clearly marked as a furry-porn-centric account, and yet here I have these fucking professional accounts from the main servers favoriting and even BOOSTING my shitposts about #elonmusksbutthole. Some of them also show up on my timelines on .art and techhub, but they have no way of knowing I'm the same person.
What is going on here?
My theory is that Mastodon is such a cool space that it brings out the #GoblinMode in all of us, and I love it, but I was not expecting a professional violinist to react to my posts today, at least not on this account...
