  1. @randahl
Does anyone have good ideas for how they can prove it?

I'm really interested to see the evidence in this. Did the owner notice it and then record distance with an independent method-gps or similar? Or record a video along a known journey showing the odometer overcounting? It's gonna be hard to prove any other way.

  2. Petition to use the hashtag #Elongate when talking about Mr. Musk’s muckery with #USPOL and the fall of #tesla

  3. @aligorith I’m surprised that Mr Musk’s muckery hasn’t yet been branded #Elongate

  4. Seems like Elon had a botched penis enlargement surgery which really explains his shift to the right 😂

  5. It's called #elongate because Elon elongated his arm.

  6. Now the #PresidentMusk is in politics, which scandal will be the first #ElonGate?

  7. If Elon Musk is accused of vote rigging how many major media outlets are going to publish just so they be the first to use the scandal name "#Elongate"?

  8. I’ve added “#Elongate” to my collection of #musk tags. Because it efficiently explains his entire operating scam in a single word.

More spicy tags to folllow “sometime next year”

  9. @WIRED reports:

"IBM, Disney, Lionsgate, the European Union, and, reportedly, Apple have all pulled advertising from X following Elon Musk’s apparent endorsement of an antisemitic conspiracy theory."

Because they suddenly found out that Twitter is a Nazi hell-hole? Are we meant to trust these companies/governments with anything if they didn't see that before?

  10. CW: ~~Twitter~~ X "verification"

Can we all agree that there is NOTHING verified over there and only bought to have a "verification", that is worth a stinky burning trash can. #Twitter #TwitterX #X #ElonMusk #EgonMurks #ElonGate

I bet that at least in the browser version with Firefox and Chrome there soon will be a solution via the extension "deMuskify Twitter" 😎

It even brings the bird back! 😆

    1) installing Stylus extension
    on firefox addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firef
    or chrome chrome.google.com/webstore/det

    2) importing mostlyharmless' "deMuskify Twitter" style

Not a #NAFO meme but right from the oven of a #NAFOmemes bakery.

We already all know here that there's a solution to that sick blue bird. But if you know someone over there who doesn't see the solution yet you can show it now:
(The idea is to "steal" my picture here to then tweet it over there on Twitter before you hit some obscure maximum of whatnot.)

  13. @[email protected] @[email protected] I was running a diaspora* pod for years. It was a nice little corner of the internet to avoid the cesspool. Mastodon gathered all the traction during #elongate so it has more active users. Still though, indexing your instance for searches seems a bit obvious of a thing to do. And if people don't like it they can just turn it off. That would be a win for everybody imo.

  14. I started my move to Mastodon six months before #ElonGate. It was part of my greater project "time well spent online". It started with Facebook and Instagram in 2018. I kept Reddit, where I'm taking care of a community focused around brief, but meaningful encounters for a specific subset of humans.

One of the things that nudged me off #Twitter was the trans hate. How normalized it became, how politicized. This got me thinking of privilege and the depths of the cesspool that is Twitter.

  15. The influence of what Twitter's algorithm/AI decides to show on timelines has been talked about a lot lately. Today I witnessed it firsthand when I made an identical post on Twitter and Mastodon. Check out the fascinating difference in engagement.

Both screenshots were taken at the same time. I have 278 more followers on Twitter than Mastodon, and the Twitter post was made 11 minutes after the Twitter post. The Tweet only had 19 views and no engagement, while the Mastodon post had 33 favorites/likes and 20 boosts/retweets.

On Mastodon, there isn't an algorithm/AI picking the most controversial posts to show on your timeline as "Alice liked this" or "Bob follows this account". If doesn't have a global search across instances, so the only posts that you see are from accounts or hashtags you follow.

This makes content visibility and engagement much more organic. Maximum post length is set by the instance/server administrator and is usually very generous, so you can fit plenty of content and hashtags in one post, instead of making a thread.

Because posts aren't broken up into threads of multiple posts, individual posts can't be taken out of context and abused. This also allows for the inclusion of many hashtags, which are key for discovery because Mastodon doesn't have federated search across instances/servers.
