This is an incredibly important spot to me, being a major location in the best series ever created (the anime #elfenlied) and it took me three visits to Kamakura over two trips to Japan to finally get that shot with clear sky.

I am willing to sacrifice some brightness in the foreground if I can in exchange get the deep blue sky and sea. 😊

My 'Elfen Lied' Blu-rays just arrived and KSM took the term "complete edition" as serious as they could.
I'm blown away by the quality and even the slipcase is fucking gorgeous ❤️‍🔥

Does anyone have comments on #accessibility for websites that are inherently first and foremost image-galleries?

I do put alt-texts there, but if the entire point of the site is to show of pictures, how useful is that really for someone who is blind?

I guess I don’t have too specific of a question, which indicates that I don’t even know what I should ask about or take into consideration.

I’m talking about stuff like this: A Page where I compare pictures I took in and around Kamakura (Japan) with stills from the anime Elfenlied to illustrate how similar they are. But if you can’t see (or just barely), what use would you get out of a site like that?

And to be very clear, this is not about justifying not to care, but about wanting to understand context.

This thesis-printing business keeps being a problem, but the print-shop now promised me that they will be able to deliver it barely on time…

Anyways, at least I like what is now hopefully, for real, the final version of my cover-art:

The picture is taken southward from the Sea-Candle on Enoshimal island, Japan and a substitute for my original idea to go with something based on the works of Gustav Klimt that is a reference to the Opening of the anime #Elfenlied. Sadly that didn’t work out (artist just suffered from ADHD and other issues all year) and I instead used a picture I took when I was on location and almost like it more, especially since it has depth to it, while still providing a subtle reference to one of, if not the, most important works of fiction to me, that I have ever consumed.

There were VERY few, if any, things in life that made me as overwhelmed with emotions and as happy, while I was still on T, as when I first visited the locations in which it was set, you can find the post I made back then here: https://ioc.exchange/@FJW/110149903182030155

It thus feels only appropriate to honor this work by putting a nod to it onto the cover of my thesis. 😊

And all of that is before we get into the pure emotional hell that #Elfenlied depicts which in return shows unbelievable amounts of compassion and understanding, if it doesn’t break you (which it is know to also have done; If you are traumatized and connect to it, this might either end up the show that saves your live or the one that ends it.

Elfenlied and Claymore used to be the only thing that were able to make me cry while on T. And now on E, they hit sooo much harder.

The topic is TV, so I used that to recommend my favourite anime: #Elfenlied #Claymore and #SeireiNoMoribito. I forgot to mention that the first two (but especially the first!!!) come with pretty serious content warnings regarding violence, trauma and other things.

It’s probably the most brutal and heart-breaking series I’ve ever seen, but also one of the most relatable and that is in part because a lot of the themes regarding the treatment of the diclonii in #Elfenlied closely mirror the treatment of #trans people.

To be clear: That series comes with ALL the content-warnings and some people claim to have been traumatized by it.

But if you can deal with all that, this is one of the few stories that give a great depiction on the difference it can make on people whether they are rejected or accepted by their group.
