Floor 1: I punched the elevator button using the card’s directions. Pinku did this yesterday. We’d laughed at the ritual. Pinku enjoyed doing silly internet memes. Nothing bad had ever happened.

4: Until now.

2: Pinku hadn’t returned.

6: I sighed. “Pinku.”

2: Life was empty without your laughter, hugs, kisses, cuddles—meaningless.

10: Her earthly perfume wafted in.

NyQuil chicken, Tide pod pizza, Tomino’s Hell—all your ridiculous internet fancies.

5: A lady entered, wearing Pinku’s clothes and a TV star’s face.

I pressed One, and we ascended.

10: The woman exits, saying, “Follow me. I’m going to her.”
