Cleaned up all the pads on my A4000 (ignore debris in photo, its been removed). Couldn't do a perfect job as some of these pads are ready to peel off and I had to be gentle, but it's much better and soldering will be fine. There are some exposed traces that got eaten very close to the pads, so I need to do some solder mask repair next, probably tomorrow. Caps should get here this week too!

It seems to currently only have some percussion sounds but I don't know MIDI keyboards so I have learning to do beyond plugging it in and it showing up in Ardour and it actually making sound.

My good deal needed some work. The usb type-b socket was broke off. I by chance saw this odd piece of metal in the box, thought it was nothing related, then I had another thought and saw only hole where there should have been a usb connector.
Find a donor, disassemble both, de-solder and clean up the recipient, solder the 'new' one in, and clean up a little, and reassemble. All done in about an hour.

Finally broke down and fixed my bedside alarm clock that quit working yesterday. It had been failing for awhile now. Was putting up with it till it didn't work at all🙄 Went much better than anticipated👍
Now I should fix the two backup units so there is a spare on hand too😆

I almost got to play Baywatch after dealing with the ball trough opto issue and some minor broken wires on the way. I started a game and boom - the display board crashed mid start animation.
A lot of Data-East, Sega and early Stern games have this exact issue: the display board's 5 volt connector gets yanked every time the display panel is opened carelessly and it becomes so loose the game vibrations will cause reboots. This is exactly what's going on in here, just look at this connector! #pinrepair #arcaderepair #electronicrepair

That feeling of dawning realisation when repairing an item of electronics that just won’t flipping well work… and you spy the component on the bench that you were supposed to solder in last time. #makershour #electronicrepair #soldering #jbl #muppet

Hmm, this VHS head flex cable has seen better days…
Let's scratch the mask, solder some wires… gee I really need a smaller iron tip.
Then test continuity and cross-track isolation…

The other day I serviced my Metrix OX7520… many bad contacts (it seems Metrix is known for poor contacts).

Speaking of recaping, this LC-III should really be next, oh my it didn't look that way last time I opened it…

Oh yeah I repaired this Vaio some months ago, a pasta package clip and some hot glue protect the replaced button quite well.

Ok so this Uher 714 tape deck doesn't seem to power up… and it has a broken belt and needs some good cleaning…
