  1. Yeah. Because nuclear is so "cheap", the French government needs to subsidize the price of electricity so nuclear can stay "competitive".

    We can learn something from this: It's not alwas private capitalists that drive totally illogical decisions. Because of ideology and institutional inertia, state-owned companies* can result also in bad outcomes.

    * ok, there are also quite a few private companies or joint ventures involved, but it is impressive how the French govt continuously redistributes money into an industry that has clearly shown to not be the solution.
