  4. If just 114,885 Trump voters — spread in the right proportions across the “blue wall” states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania — had flipped their votes over to Kamala Harris, she would have won.

If those same voters had all been from Massachusetts, it wouldn't have made a bit of difference.

This is why Trump's attempts to get voter rolls from Blue States is so dangerous: he only needs to change a few votes.

This wannabe dictator will not stop trying to derail American democracy and disenfranchise legit voters. If we turn out in numbers, we can vote these as*holes out once and for all. 16. RE: infosec.exchange/@briankrebs/1

2020 is the election I can’t escape from as a person who spent years focused on #electionsecurity and working to improve the security of election infrastructure before, during, and after the big day.

It’s weird to have your work and that of everyone else who did this work constantly called into question. Not only our work but also our intentions are attacked this way—by people who seem to want to move the country further away from a yet to be realized representative democracy.

I’m always proud of this work. Not a huge fan of the two establishment parties, but I am a fan of enabling the trusted infrastructure people need to make their voices heard at scale and participate in future democratic efforts. My hope is to see a truly expansive democracy at work in my lifetime.

  19. In the continuing effort to further enshittify the timeline, the #GOP has decided the fix is in, and Trump ousted the three remaining members of the Election Assistance Commission, with less than four months before midterm elections.

This is exactly what last month's Supreme Court ruling was designed to do.

When the Reckoning comes...and it will come...the Supremes will not be immune from Justice.

They are gearing up to steal the election. I suggest it might be a good time to stock up on essentials, and be prepared to go to the mattresses.

Israeli firm BlackCore allegedly interfered in elections in France, the US, Scotland, and other countries through dissemination of online disinformation.
It is not known who commissioned BlackCore.
US state and Federal government agencies did not comment on the allegedly interference in New York's mayoral election.
Scottish National Party called the allegations "concerning" and noted the prevalence of social media influence operations, but did not confirm or deny the existence of BlackCore's alleged campaign.

  25. Weekly output: Craig Newmark + Count von Count, T-Mobile freebies, Android fake call detection, election security

I’m on my way to the other half of the world tonight–once again, I’m speaking at Web Summit Rio. This time the organizers (who as per our usual arrangement are picking up airfare and lodging) have me moderating four panels. All of them are about AI in some way, and two only got added to my schedule this weekend.

6/1/2026: ‘Craigslist Founder Teams Up With a Muppet to Persuade People to Stop Clicking on Scams, PCMag

For the second time in six months, I had a video conversation with Craiglist founder-turned philanthropist about his Take9 efforts to get people to take a beat before clicking through sketchy links. This time, we discussed how Newmark has enlisted the help of a vaguely vampiric purple potentate–Sesame Street’s Count von Count–in this effort.

6/2/2026: T-Mobile Offers Fresh Set of Freebies for 10th Anniversary of T-Mobile Tuesdays, PCMag

T-Mobile offered an advance on this news but got the final version of their press release to me way too late in the workday on Monday. My editors were fine with me filing something Tuesday afternoon.

6/3/2026: Google Will Soon Spot Fake Calls on Supported Android Phones, PCMag

I noted some of the software dependencies of the new fake-call-detection feature, but Ars Technica’s Ryan Whitwam (once again) went into much more detail about them in his writeup.

6/3/2026: Report Cites Misinformation As Key Threat to Election Security, Doesn’t Name the Biggest Offenders, PCMag

The chance to quiz one of Check Point’s security experts about this report made for a more interesting post. Having to update it with a clarification about leaked credentials from the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue made for a more time-consuming post.

  27. Cybersecurity Threats Target Election Campaign Systems

As the 2026 midterms approach, a new report warns that cybersecurity threats are increasingly targeting the online accounts, platforms, and websites used by election campaigns, donors, and voters, rather than voting machines or ballot-counting systems. The USPS is pushing forward with a plan to boost mail-in ballot security and transparency by introducing uniquely serialized barcodes that allow for individual ballot tracking.
