#Finland election maps — 2019 vs 2023, via Twitter account AJRElectionMaps. Far right PS expanding its hold in western Finland and, thanks to the weakening of the centrist Kesk, into rural central and northern Finland too.

Despite joining up, #Bulgaria's liberal PP and DB were narrowly defeated by Boyko Borisov's GERB.
Their problem: an inability to extend their reach more beyond Sofia. Fully 31% of their vote came from the capital region's districts — versus just 18% of GERB's vote and 19% of the far right V's.

At which individual precinct in #Amsterdam did each party do best, in these provincial elections? I made an #ElectionMap.
Methodological note: this is about polling stations (stembureaus), not polling locations (stemlocaties) — sometimes there are more than one stembureau at a stemlocatie.
A lot of the political extremes are located in the ethnically diverse, working class, outer borough of #AmsterdamZuidOost.

A starker contrast still on this map: SP vs #Volt! Who was stronger where?
Volt is mostly the larger party in hipper, richer, and very right-wing rural places. (Doesn't necessarily mean they did well in the latter — just better than the SP.)
In and around the major and university cities; the Gooi and the Heuvelrug and towns like Wassenaar; parts of the Bible Belt and ultra-catholic Tubbergen and Dinkelland. The SP leads most everywhere else.

And this is something I wanted to know: among the two parties (who each got 4-5%), where was the Party for the Animals (#PvdD, @partijvoordedieren) larger, and where the Socialist Party (SP)?
Although the PvdD's electorate itself isn't very metropolitan, there's a clear contrast between centre and periphery here, and the SP is unsurprisingly stronger across the catholic south. Some class and cultural differences too.

#Netherlands election map: which was the largest party *on the left* in the provincial elections?
The contrast between city and countryside and "the West" and "the regions" which marked the overall results is — unsurprisingly — reflected among left-wing parties too.

The Labour Party #PvdA suffered significant losses in traditional northern heartlands due to the BBB surge, but gained 4% in Amsterdam — an inverse pattern from 2021. Did cooperation with the GreenLeft make Labour seem a little sexier again? 😉

Thanks to @SjoerdMouissie, the NOS provides some great maps of the #Netherlands provincial election results — both of the traditional kind and weighted by population (and in my favourite way, with variously-sized squares rather than unsightly blobs).
The maps for the winning #BBB are esp revealing 👇

En welk percentage van de stemmen linkse partijen, opgeteld, kunnen verwachten in de provinciale verkiezingen volgens dezelfde peiling. Zo zwak in Friesland en Drenthe, in historisch vergelijk! #PS2023
Plus: pooled vote share for left-wing parties by province according to the same poll. Strikingly weak especially in Frysia and Drenthe, compared with historical patterns. #Netherlands

Bonus: a #Berlin #ElectionMap for the combined vote of The Greys and The Grey Panthers. Unsurprisingly stronger in the suburbs where more older voters live.
-
But each party is different, so I created maps for the main three:
- the Animal Protection Party, @Tierschutzpartei
- the satirical The PARTY,
@DiePARTEIBerlin- and the liberal European movement Volt,
@VoltBerlin.Very different geographic profiles as you can see!

In #Berlin's election this weekend, no less than 14% voted for parties that didn't get seats.
That's the most since 2006, and more than in any other state's last vote except Saarland (where near-misses of the Greens and FDP contributed to a ridiculous 22%!).
The FDP narrowly missed the threshold in Berlin as well, getting 4.6%, but minor parties also pooled an impressive 9% (and that's actually down a tad from 2021!). Here's their map 👇

The evolution away from East-centred party continued apace since the last election two years ago: check out this gains/losses map for #DieLinke.
+5% by the Moritzplatz in Kreuzberg; -5% on the southern end of the Karl-Marx Allee
