Roughly 400 #noncitizens voted in #NewJersey after about 6,600 residents were improperly registered to vote between June 2023 & June 2024 because of a software error at the #DMV, Gov #MikieSherrill announced Tuesday.

ALL of the people affected had disclosed that they were not citizens when registering for either a driver’s license or ID, but were nonetheless placed on the voter rolls in error.

At issue are 3 avowed supporters of #Trump who in May took control of the 5-member state #election board & immediately began passing a flurry of rules that prompted an uproar of criticism from state & local election ofcls & from #GOP & #Democrats.

Over the weekend, ProPublica reported that users of the portal had unsuccessfully attempted to cancel the registrations of 2 #Republican ofcls, Secy of State #BradRaffensperger & Rep #MarjorieTaylorGreene.

The flaw found by Parker was different from the 2 previously reported ones. This one would allow ANY user of the portal to bypass the screen that requires a driver’s license number & submit the cancellation request w/o it.
