That doesn't make you a bad person, it just means we live in a very racist society (since birth) and it would be unrealistic to NOT at least have some racist preconceived notions. The ability to change our minds when confronted with new information IS growth.

2/ They may not say anything, but your friends are watching you. They are taking note of your silence and evaluating whether you are to be trusted when shit truly hits the fan.

A lot of people are hurting right now. They are scared about the future and they need to know who their allies really are.

Reach out to them (if you haven't done so) and just listen. Don't opt out of the conversation. Let them know you truly care about them.

Being able to opt out of difficult conversations about race is a level of privilege that your friends simply don't have. Peace and quiet are two vastly different things. Silence is NOT golden.
