Scalette del Teatro SanzioPaolo Volponi è noto non solo per le indiscusse opere letterarie narrative e poetiche ma anche per un vivo e prolungato interesse verso le arti, comprovato dalla sua storia di collezionista e da una parallela attività di critica artistica sino ad oggi solo relativamente censita, per lo più dispersa.
Nell’occasione del centenario della nascita dello scrittore, Electa pubblica, nella neonata collana Scritti, la raccolta dei suoi testi composti tra il 1956 e il 1994. Si tratta della prima antologia organica degli scritti di Paolo Volponi sulle arti, alla scoperta di un volto conosciuto ma poco letto di uno tra i maggiori scrittori del secondo novecento.
L’interesse profondo per le arti e per il collezionismo ha reso Paolo Volponi famoso anche per il profilo di dirigente e consulente ambito per case d’asta. La bibliografia più esauriente degli scritti volponiani, apparsa in Romanzi e prose, Einaudi, 3 voll., dà conto di numerose pagine di galleria, saggi critici, dibattiti, articoli di giornale, presentazioni di mostre, composti in circa quarant’anni di lavoro. Soprattutto su artisti novecenteschi: da Savinio a Bartolini, a Fazzini, da Vacchi a Guerreschi, da Arnaldo Pomodoro ad Alik Cavaliere, da Enzo Cucchi a Pier Paolo Calzolari.
