The summit of #SOTA OK/LI-004 Jizera (#WWFF OKFF-0851, #POTA CZ-0010) does not offer very much space for an antenna and is usually pretty crowded on weekends. You are also not allowed to leave the trails to make use of the activation zone - the nature reserve needs to be protected. #SOTA OK/LI-003 Smrk (#WWFF OKFF-0011, #POTA CZ-0010) near the border from #Poland to the #Czech Republic is really worth an activation: a challenging ascent, great views and plenty of space to put up your antenna. @DO3BN and I made a joint activation of #SOTA DM/SX-029 Großer Zschirnstein (#WWFF DLFF-1068, #POTA DE-0875, DE-0785) today on #40m in #morsecode, #15m in #FT8 as well as #2m and #70cm in #FM. After a walk around Point du Meinga in the morning I was able to activate #POTA FR-9166 HAVRE DE ROTHENEUF and FR-2848 (#WWFF FFF-0072) - another first activation. The tide was low, but we found a dry spot some meters up well within the park’s boundaries. Despite an ongoing geomagnetic storm 27 QSOs were possible in 32 minutes on #20m and #40m in #morsecode with 10 W out. Instead of sharing today’s activation results, I will post a photo of our tour to Mont-Saint-Michel (should have been a #POTA 4-fer). According to the #POTA map it’s possible to activate two entities directly at Saint-Malo: FR-5420 and FR-5421. So I set up my emergency #elecraftax2 antenna at the mole and hit the waves on #20m in #morsecode with 10 W of output power. There was no space to put up the #efhw without endangering the other pedestrians here. Thanks to the assistance of Larry F5PY today’s activation became a 3-fer: I took a walk along La Rance #POTA FR-2850, FR-10096, FR-5420 (#WWFF FFF-1502). Part of the track was closed due to erosion so I had to take a slight detour. A total of 54 QSOs on #40m and #20m both in #SSB and #morsecode were made in extremely sunny weather. Anse du Verger #POTA FR-9165 and FR-2848 (#WWFF FFF-0614) seemed an ideal spot for a nice hike and my first activation in #France. Slight rain in the morning, but shortly after noon the sun started shining. I reached a total of 48 QSOs on #20m and #40m in #morsecode and #ssb. As soon as I arrived on today's first summit the rain stopped: Quirl #POTA DE-0882, DE-0785 (#WWFF DLFF-1068, #GMA DA/SX-192) was followed by Pfaffenstein #POTA DE-0882, DE-0875 (#WWFF DLFF-0745, #GMA DA/SX-295). A big thank you to all the callers for the nice pileup on #40m #ssb while on Quirl - that is something I'm not really used to. A quick activation in the Bavarian Forest near #Kollnburg (#WWFF DLFF-0043, #POTA DE-0011) to test the conditions brought 17 QSOs on #40m and #20m in #morsecode and #ssb. #WWFF DLFF-0505 NSG Frauenteich Moritzburg (in #POTA DE-0688 Moritzburger Kleinkuppenlandschaft Natura 2000) has an observation point for birds on the western park of the lake that is worth a visit. After working in #Halle today I took the short drive and hike (in fact more of a hill than a mountain) to #SOTA DM/SA-033 Petersberg. It’s a monastery built in the 12th century and still in use today. A traffic jam on the highway led me to a spontaneous activation of #WWFF DLFF-0194 Aschbachtal. Finding a nice spot was rather difficult but finally I had plenty of space to set up my antenna. After a week of upper respiratory tract infection I'm finally able to hike again: #SOTA DM/SX-025 Valtenberg (#WWFF DLFF-1156) is not far away and easy to activate. Unfortunately the lookout tower is still closed, so #VHF and #UHF were tricky with the #HT. Different summits - different setups: Normally I prefer long hikes and relaxed activations with plenty of time on the bands. But today I wanted to test my new Special Edition Palm Radio Pico Paddle (very tiny!) and two antennas so I went to three summits in a row: #SOTA DM/SX-109 Steinberg, DM/SX-002 Auersberg and OK/KA-001 Klínovec. Crossing the Austrian-German border multiple times at the former peat bog „Wildrosenmoos“ near Sulzberg you can reach #SOTA DL/AL-277 Auf dem Hochstraess. The old border checkpoint is an ideal spot to activate and sit in the sun to relax. Two firsts for me today: my first operation as HB9/DK3IP/P and my first activation over 2000 m. #SOTA HB/AI-001 Säntis (also #WWFF HBFF-0389 and #POTA CH-0175) is easily accessible by funicular and has a spectacular view from the top. 38 QSOs in total with the ODX on the East Coast of the USA is satisfying for the compromised #elecraftax2 antenna. #HamRadio #hamr #SummitsOnTheAir #Amateurfunk #qrp #elecraftkx2 #morsecode

If you happen to visit #Blaubeuren and its famous Blautopf (meaning „blue pot“ - a deep blue spring in the karst region surrounding the town) take the short drive up to #SOTA DM/BW-856 Kapellenberg. It‘s an easy walk of about 30 minutes to the summit. #WWFF DLFF-0170 = #POTA DE-0720 Nature Reserve Wurzacher Ried is a rarely activated and fairly large former peat bog. It streches over about 18 km² and is one of the largest nature reserves in Southern Germany. The chasers were not that active on #40m or #20m in #morsecode and a cold wind blew on the observation point. I‘ll definitely return with nicer weather. #HamRadio #hamr #Amateurfunk #qrp #elecraftkx2 #ParksOnTheAir

With the very short activation of #SOTA DM/SX-085 Collm (only 5 QSOs in total on #70cm in #FM and #40m in #morsecode) I finally managed to earn the "Activated Entire Region" bagde for the DM/SX region in the #SummitsOnTheAir program.
Why that short? Take a look at the pictures: A major thunderstorm front was rushing towards me.
