Ejecta are particles ejected from an area. In volcanology, in particular, the term refers to particles including pyroclastic materials that came out of a volcanic explosion and magma eruption volcanic vent, or crater, has traveled through the air or water, and fell back to the ground surface or ocean floor.

A coronal mass ejection #CME produced during yesterday’s X1.1 #solarflareevent is coming directly our way at Earth. Experts are expecting the bulk of the #ejecta to arrive on August 18. But, they say, we could also see an early arrival on August 17. The impact of this solar material with Earth’s magnetic field should boost #auroraldisplays.
