@christineburns Ireland has also-been going through a big upgrade and remapping of #EirGrid. There is the same issue of the switch to renewables relocating the sources of power, but also a hugely expanded population: up 90% since 1960, after 115 years of decline, and 34% just since the millennium. Plus now a surge of power-hungry data centres.

The result is a lot of major new pylon routes, many of which have been selected with gross insensitivity, and imposed with cruel force. 😞

This thread discusses an important issue - can the necessary electrification of everything be supported by the distribution grid? I would imagine that the situation in Ireland is very similar to that in the Netherlands.

Why does actual wind generation fall off after extended high forecasted wind? Are the forecasts wrong or is the generation being curtailed?

Winter is coming, solarPV dropping off, night boost electricy increasing: 2am-4am red pulses.
Yellow is excess solar exported. Battery carries the house for the day, charging from solar and/or night boost @ 13c/unit.
