Imagine being a wealthy CEO who spends his time claiming women belong in the kitchen and should not have control of their own bodies. Or that same CEO claiming black lives do not matter. That same CEO claiming love is only love between a man and woman. That same CEO saying, both LGBTQ+ and trans folk suffer from mental illness. Furthermore, claiming that COVID was a hoax, vaccines kill people, and is a firm, Donald Trump supporter.

You probably think, I am talking about Elon Musk, and you likely support the idea of Tesla going bankrupt, as not to support a Nazi. But who I am actually describing is Brendan Eich, the founder and CEO of Brave Browser, but when you tell people that is the case, people will argue "that is different". 🙄

I fully intend to continue to use #Brave as my primary browser. Because when it boils down to it, in a technology sense, the fact that someone invented javascript plays into things far more significantly than whether or not they personally don’t believe that honeymoons should involve swordfights. These bullshit witch-hunts need to stop. Just because someone has a different set of morals and values doesn’t mean their software is any less secure or performant or that it is somehow designed to catastrophically compromise your online security if it magically detects that you disagree with them.

#Firefox itself was called on to be boycotted and the pitchforks/torches brigade were fully behind that until #Eich resigned. He threw a measly thousand bucks into something he believed in. And now he’s not there, it’s cool cool cool to use FF again. Did his beliefs make FF a worse technology? Does it for Brave?
