Citing reasonable concerns, hypotheticals and outliers, ‘gender critics’ used money, influence, and the courts to create a permission structure to exclude us from gendered spaces.

The only people who will actually use it, already had lots of ways to make us unwelcome. Their bullshit is priced in to our lives already and so in a sense nothing has changed.

That still leaves trans people in trouble, in #carceral spaces, in the #nhs, in #school and #endOfLife, and in finding #work. Oh and #sports, if you could ever access them in the first place.

You know what none of us are going to do, though? #exclude ourselves from our lives as they are now, just because a handful of judges decided that a sixteen year old equality law, that protected us, was actually a bathroom ban all along.

We’re also going to seize their ‘third spaces’ rhetoric for our #nonBinary peeps and get on with ending all this gender nonsense!

It's the Labour Party which did this to us Queers, I will never forget that....

On which note, my son is still raging about the time that the toilet custodian at Athens bus station refused to let him into the men's toilets alone and insisted he go with us into the women's.(He was a young-looking 12 at the time.)

@Shonascatchard the #EHRC guidance effectively bans #Trans people from using any toilets in any public or commercial space, which effectively means that they cannot go out anywhere, at least in urban areas, for more than a couple of hours.

That's a HUGE denial of civil freedom.

Glad but not entirely surprised to see my MP, Clive Lewis has signed in favour of this motion.

I said the day the #EHRC announced these guidelines they were unworkable and essentially trying to create a ‘separate but equal’ approach to #trans facilities that is absolutely akin to Jim Crow.

137 MPs, from #UKLabour, #LiberalDemocrat, #Greens, #PlaidCymru, #SNP and #SDLP, have signed a motion calling for the #EHRC guidance on #Trans people using single sex spaces to be overruled.

"A prayer motion to reject the EHRC Code has been tabled. Your MP can sign it. They won't unless you ask."

It's an abysmal piece of writing, from all angles - whether you care about trans people, or shop/office workers, or simply society at large. We don't need to create the culture where people are being policed for not performing gender well enough to satisfy any passerby. That way lies the rise of random violence, totalitarianism, and dystopia. Let's not go there.

#EDM240 now has 132 signatures calling for dumping the #EHRC's Code Of Practice. Thanks to all those MPs, and congrats to everyone who wrote to their MP.

But a debate is very unlikely unless that number of signatures is doubled.
