  1. So long as #Leftist sentiment fetishizes work and workers, as definitive of exploited virtue, those rendered unable to work, by structural harms, will continue to be tossed aside.

Defenestrative fascism is, by necessity, dependent on #EgoValue investment, of the self-identified worker, in #normalcy, without which #disaccommodation #classposture would be illegible—is the fear of becoming lumpen that assures its certain eventuality.

Any worker is but #disability waiting to happen.

  2. CW: lumpentheory

Tangle of "individualism", as analytical category, not merely that of ideological indictment where materialist critique is called for.

Ideal at issue—choice—is very currency of #EgoValue under #FrosteanBargain. Thus, "individualist" renders as slur, against subject's choices, thereby their character.

Such idealistic category is, itself, hopelessly bound up in that material fetter of social contract which must instead be object of critique—not choices, but promises that govern such.

  3. @elana @decorummanager Yes, "treats" would seem to be close parallel to the perks of perk-seeking: silhouette of #perquisitive #classposture as cast upon #conveyancée class posture.

#FrosteanBargain situates perk-seeking in relation to rent-seeking—as distinct from profit-seeking—as long-term vestment of #EgoValue (compare use value, exchange value) in autobiography accounting Robert Frost satirized.

Less about the treats than upholding #compliancism promise of treats.

  4. CW: lumpentheory neologisms

@elana Relevance of all this to pandemic is #classposture as answer to vernacular numismatic class theory; in particular, #perquisitive class posture, defined by its #EgoValue relation to #FrosteanBargain: the social contract that underwrites—thus fetters to—normalcy as promise of righteous entitlements (including restaurant dining and maskless air travel) for a lifetime of "right" choices.

Among those choices, #KayfabePanto: electoralist boosterism as morality play.

Now you're circling in toward that #EgoValue—and the retrofutures that undergird all that work to get "accepted".

Now go back and reread that Sinclair quote through what you've written here.

Do you catch a glimmer of how such an ahistorical take provides wholly inadequate purchase for grappling with the compounded lifetimes of lived experience that constitute any given institution?

Not so simple as quippy character assassination would suggest.

    @smollestbunny

Oh, deary my, this person's lived experience doesn't align with my abstract denotative gospel of their social context! Whatever will I do!

There's a reason for my speaking so much about #EgoValue and #KayfabePanto.

"democratic socialism" is so much iconography within the first estate of #RentierSociety. For you to come stepping out of the stained glass—shattering it behind you as you do so—is too much iconoclasm for their white-hat identities to cope with.

  7. CW: ego-value and SCIENCE!

    2. To come of age in #RentierSociety is to grow up never learning that to do a bad thing is not the same thing as to be a bad person.

Thus the moralistic frame that good people don't do bad things: only bad people do bad things. A world populated by white-hats & black-hats.

The #EgoValue wrapped up in that is profound. Leftists ain't immune, thus can find self-critique eludes them—as that would undermine one's sense of moral self.
