So, lessons:

1. I should go order baba ganoush at the local Lebanese place, just so I have a frame of reference. Not knowing at all how it is supposed to taste significantly impacts my cooking style, lol.

2. Need pita bread next time.

3. May have overdone the garlic. Good thing I don't have a hot date later 😜

4. Do not cook when you are really hungry, almost ate 1/3 of this before the whole recipe was done.

5. Need to look and plan for more time for the other eggplant recipes... and since a lot of oven usage, reserve for a non heat day or for recipes that can be done outside on a grill.

The eggplant (Aubergines, if you will) are looking particularly strong and vigorous this season. I put this down to a complete absence of any flea beetles this year. This is the first year in as long as I can remember without all their leaves being full of holes. Got to go pick some more.

We had a colder than expected (by me, anyway) night last night (35F/2C) & ended up with a light frost. Plants outside are ok, but, because I did not have any supplemental heating on in the greenhouse, the eggplant seedlings were NOT happy. They recovered as it warmed up, (pix are 1 hr. apart) but I fear long-term productivity consequences. We shall see. It's still going to be a while before the tomatoes, etc. can go out to play!

Indoor growing update. It's all getting bigger. The peppers need to be spaced out, and I need to get a tray off the bench into the tent so they don't dry out so fast. Hibiscus is greening up and growing new leaves, the top of it looks good too but you can't see that. ;)
