  1. @Lstn2urmama @Offroadrj With all my troubles with brittle bones, it's a wonder he didn't crack my ribs. it was an assault the minute our noses touched. I thought he was trying to kiss me #eew. He was thinking of spitting in my face so no one could see, and if I hit first others would see me as the assaulting side. I didn't react so he did the chest shove, but everyone saw that, my wife was shocked and when I came back, she said what was that about. And he was on camera too.

  2. The solution? Get a bigger spinning wheel, of course!

I knew that the EEW 6.1 was coming out in May (and the previous model was sold out), and had 6 oz bobbins (perfect!), so I bid my time until they were in stock. It was still several weeks before I could try it out, but now I'm spinning away!

I'm VERY happy with the EEW 6.1. The Nano 2 was fine for learning, but it was finicky to get the tension right on, and for dealing with thicker yarns. The 6.1 is much easier to deal with, and has a great foot-activated switch too!

After a quick test spinning single ply to get a feel for things, I was ready to tackle my first triple ply. Results are maybe a little uneven in spin (my fault, not the spinner), but I hope it evens out in follow-up processing. So far I'm quite pleased!

  3. Comparing earthquake locations and magnitudes from different algorithms is not straightforward, especially for earthquake early warning.

Jozinović et al. provide a minimum latency solution based on observed emerging waveform envelopes.

  4. Very interesting read on earthquake early warning performance and potential, on the case of last year's devastating M7.8 in which killed almost 60,000 people:

What I feel is missing is a questionnaire to users that received the warning on their phones, whether they reacted to the warning, preparing for shaking and whether it changed the actual effects on their well-being/survival.

  5. My #EEW cone winder is here but my new yarn won't be delivered 'til Monday, so I don't get to try it out just yet...

  6. @davidtoddmccarty I hope not. The Villages has very high rates for STD’s. Who wants to watch THAT storyline? #Eew #STD #OldPeople #Boomers

  7. @SusanHR I never go barefoot. Good morning. There's very few early morning experiences that take the wind out of you. Jogging 10 miles will. or stepping in something, with a sock on (I'm not crazy, I have cats, never go barefoot!), removing said sock, and finding something you missed #eew.
Let me see if I can vividly describe this (LOL) I'm practising my Alt-Text skills.
A cat scratches in a litterbox. Another cat sprints to attack.

    Sprints down hall, leaving behind
