In terms of setting up a mesh #WiFi (or indeed any WiFi), things couldn’t have been easier than with the #eero (named after a Finnish architect, and son of my favourite architect, Eliel). Plug in and after pairing with the easy app, it just worked. Great coverage and I haven’t even set up the third one yet. Superb replacement for sadly unsupported #Apple #Airport. Now to figure out a #TimeCapsule alternative.

Well, this is intriguing. Apple TV Network Settings screen showing not connected via WiFi. However everything is working as if it was connected via WiFi. Wondering if this is a bug in TVOS 26.1, Eero software update, or…who knows.

Just swapped my ISP to GIgaclear from Sky. It has allowed my to use my Eero Pro 7s as my router. It has only been a few hours, but so far so good.

Looks like a good summary of the issues for this bad #eero update is in this thread on #reddit. Seems to be routing between extensions or secondary eero devices. The downgrade won’t apply (I tried). You have to contact support to force an update. I’m not impacted as I only have 1 router currently… my apartment is smol!

Hmm not sure I can set my #eero's up to advertise the static route for the minecraft server. I think I need to set up port-forwarding on the kodipi so it appears to be the minecraft server.

#NTP woes for days - until I learned that (a) #Ubuntu ignores ntp.conf if an NTP server is provided via DHCP, and (b) #eero devices name themselves NTP servers via DHCP.

eero fix: None. (grrr)
Ubuntu fix: Remove/rename /etc/dhcp/dhclient-exit-hooks.d/ntp and reboot.

Now happily syncing with my local #GNSS receiver.

I’m a sucker for a good deal. Also, I don’t like the idea of someone on my network that I haven’t authorized.

With all the #TPLink ban-talk, I found a set of older , but capable #eero routers.

I think this might be the first Amazon hardware product I like? (Insert existential crisis here)

Anyone have any info on the security of one versus the other?

Just had to order a third #eero "router" (i.e. one of the nodes with ethernet ports) because the performance in Windows 11 on my #FrameworkLaptop over a client's VPN to their Perforce server is woeful. Like modem speeds. No such issue with Linux.

Hate getting locked into a proprietary mesh network, but it works so well and there don't seem to be many/any feasible FOSS alternatives. I really, really, don't want to have to get into the crawl space and lay cables... sigh...
