"Self-restraint is a virtue/ indulgence is bad"
"less is more"
"if it doesn't hurt, it can't be effective"
"it is virtuous and morally good and important and effective to make personal sacrifices"
"this isn't a sacrifice, you LIKE it!" (when I don't allow myself to consider the alternative)
"this is extreme, but extreme is good because it is radical, it goes to the roots of the problem!" (ok, sometimes true, but not everything that's extreme is automatically effective or even radical!)
"this flies in the face of conventional wisdom because I am actually more informed than most people" (again, sometimes true but not automatically true)
"the problem isn't that this is too hard, it's that I'm stupid/not trying enough/ etc"
"you always have to try harder. just like. in general."
"pushing yourself is morally good and leads to growth rather than burnout"
"you don't deserve to have your needs and desires met"
"this isn't a need, it's a want, it's selfish"
"others have it worse so quit complaining"
"resting is wasting time"
"having fun is selfish when others are suffering"
"there is so much to do, no time for rest/fun!"
...and so on. Until you genuinely can't tell what you want and need. Because society and especially abusers (insofar as there's a difference) beat that ability out of us starting in infancy.
And these beliefs are so common in activist scenes and spaces and are what motivates many people to do activism. It's not "just" the stuff eating disorders are made out of, it's also the water most people swim in in general. Obviously you get versions of these beliefs in religions and conservative circles too....
There's nothing more radical than listening to your body's needs and allowing them unconditionally. Fuck the concepts of laziness, greed and undeservedness!

When I was younger, after eating a meal, I'd always feel the urge to go on a walk, I'd feel so energetic. All the adults called me weird while groaning about how full they were and how they couldn't wait to sit down or take a nap. Turns out I wasn't weird, and the sudden energy was just my body providing for me, rewarding me for eating.

What I learned in my journey to overcome eating disorders and food deprivation trauma:
Eat when you're hungry, eat what you're hungry for, eat as much as your body needs.
That means at least 3 full meals and 2 snacks every day.Move only in ways that feel good to your body, mind and soul.
(Those are goals for me, I am not currently there. But I do not accept anything less than this as a goal to strive for.)
Don't fight your body and don't starve it, not even a little bit. Build trust in and with your body. Listen to it.
Promoting starvation culture (ie weight loss efforts) is not ok. Do not do this on my posts.
Did you know that the idea that "fat is bad" (it really is not!) originated in racism?

It goes against life itself. Without enough calories, we die. But before we die, we get tired, exhausted, feel tense, have a hard time concentrating, develop "random" aches and pains, and often most notably: mess up our digestive system.
In short, we suffer a lot.And most people get fat along the way. The best way to get fat is by trying to lose weight. Weight loss efforts, no matter which ones, as good as always lead to mid- or long term weight restoration and most people re-gain more weight than they initially lost. If they ever lost anything in the first place.
We need to celebrate fat instead! It is our bodies love language and often a desperate way to try to keep us alive.
It's not "storage" for when we don't eat enough – our bodies can only access the energy stored in our fat if and when we are helping them and have earned their trust that we won't starve them again.
