  1. I thoroughly enjoyed the talk by Ben Okri about his new book at @edbookfest on Friday night. It got a bit postponed because of travel problems, but it gave my friend and I time to start the 🍷before the talk... and still continue it after. He was also very friendly at the signing and his daughter a pearl. I'm also really enjoying his new book and The Famished Road... #howmanynovelsareyoureadingatonce!

  2. I have found 3 streaming events I want to get tickets for to watch. Rosemary Goring talking about Mary Queen of Scots, Emily Wilson talking about translating Homer, and Val McDermid talking about her Queen Macbeth book. But overall the number of events I could choose from was way down on previous years. I have emailed the book festival my views. #bookstodon #books #bookFestivals #Edinburgh #EdinburghBookFestival #accessibility #streaming

  3. On plus, having realised how few of the Edinburgh Book Festival events this year are offering streaming, I can very quickly go through the programme. No need to read all the event listings, looking for those I like. I can just look for the few with a livestream tag under them. Sheesh! #bookstodon #books #bookFestivals #Edinburgh #EdinburghBookFestival #accessibility #streaming

  4. Finally going through the printed Edinburgh Book Festival Programme, and hugely disappointed by how few events this year are offering streaming paid tickets. I’ve enjoyed many of their talks remotely in recent years. This feels like a real step back, discriminating against people who can’t attend in person. #bookstodon #books #bookFestivals #Edinburgh #EdinburghBookFestival #accessibility #streaming

  5. Booking my online streaming #Edinburgh Book Festival tickets for this year. I could watch live online, but will also have until the end of September to watch them on catchup, most likely how I’ll watch. My husband is going to watch the #GretaThunberg talk with me. And I’ll also watch the Icelandic Prime Minister speaking about her crime writing career in another. Plus 3 more talks. edbookfest.co.uk #EdBookFest #EdinburghBookFestival #CrimeWriting #BookFestivals #Books #Iceland #Bookstodon

  6. Edinburgh Book Festival tickets successfully secured for M. John Harrison's event, This Is Not A Memoir, on 19 August. Only 1856 people in the queue ahead of me to begin with, although not all of them *necessarily* to see Mike, more's the pity! Very much looking forward to it!

  7. Browsing the #EdinburghBookFestival programme. I hope to see some events online, either live or on catchup. Aiming for at least #GretaThunberg and #DeniseMina. But I'll wait for my printed copy of the programme to arrive then study it. In person ticket sales open later this month but online streaming tickets can be bought now. The #streaming system they use works very well. I've enjoyed lots of talks in recent years. edbookfest.co.uk #books #reading #bookFestivals #Edinburgh #edbookfest
