  2. Looks like a little stealth planting of a loquat in a row of plane trees.

    I have mixed feelings about guerilla tree plantings as I've seen folks who do not know how to select the right plant for the right location make destructive choices, but loquat is certainly something that can grow here. And it's better to have *some* kind of tree in there when there are many empty tree wells in the city.

  3. Living in California, I'm used to seeing lots of plants introduced from the Mediterranean. It's been an interesting flip around to see Mediterranean species where they're native (or have been naturalized so long they might as well be native).

  11. I have about 3 more weeks of cutting season remaining. Many types of plants are quite easy to root yourself, and you save a lot of money in the big picture. Everything I sell is hardy to zone 4 and grown no spray organic.

  15. 20 plus varieties of fig cuttings started so far. The first couple weeks I sweat the cuttings with high humidity, then gradually lower the humidity as they break bud.
