  1. “You talkin’ to me”

Taxi Driver at 50: Martin Scorsese’s film remains a troubling reflection of our times - a forlorn portrait of a society coming apart at the seams.

“There are a lot of Travis Bickles, especially right now.”

"They’re all talking to each other on the internet. When I first wrote about him, he was talking to nobody. He really was, at that point, the Underground Man. Now he’s the Internet Man."

    "It is a sobering thought."

  2. Three countries. One warning.
The UK, Canada, and Australia are all showing signs of managed decline — where rising housing costs, gutted industries, and overloaded infrastructure are pushing societies to the brink.
This video explores how the same political choices have led to collapsing systems, and why Australia is next.

  3. #America is not only in #EconomicDecline, it doesn't want, no it refuses, to deal with the problem. Despite that, some #Americans are realising that, horror of horrors, the #Chinese hybrid system of #socialism and #capitalism is superior. This is a massive blow to America's beliefs and identity. And any #European country that hitches themselves to #US, will fail in the same way. Look at #Germany. They did what the US wanted them to do in dealing with the #Ukrainian situation, and their economy is paying for it. Though they were already in trouble, it's only got worse. #UK, #Canada, #Mexico, #Japan, etc. must decouple themselves, or go down with the #USA.

  4. Five years post-Brexit, UK goods trade with the EU is plummeting, and red tape is strangling businesses. Was 'taking back control' worth this economic self-sabotage? #BrexitReality #EconomicDecline ft.com/content/4d2d78b0-eedd-4

  5. El Nabiullina, head of Russia’s Central Bank, announced that the country’s economic resources are nearly exhausted, signaling severe challenges for the nation’s economy. This statement highlights the impact of sanctions, declining revenues, and systemic instability. The announcement sparked discussions, with some interpreting it as a warning of further economic decline. Original post: [The Moscow Times](moscowtimes.ru)

  6. "None of this is new. But I am wearier today because three developments have all but destroyed the idea of the #EU as an effective force for good within and beyond Europe."
[...]These are not the musings of a Euroskeptic who thinks that European democracy is impossible because a European demos is impossible. It is the lamentation of a Europeanist who believes that a European demos is entirely possible but that the EU has moved in the opposite direction. We have watched Europe’s rapid economic decline and its democratic (and ethical) deficits develop in parallel."
