  1. I’m on my way home after a really nice and inspiring #MPDEE #conference in #Leicester. I think my talk was a success but it’s kind of sad to think about how many hours I spend preparing it...

So, just in case you want to learn about #EvolutionaryRescue and it’s counterpart, #EvolutionaryMurder, please let me know, I would be happy to recycle those slides for another occasion!

  2. ...your regular reminder that all models are wrong, but some are delicious! 😋

Our next #LunchBoxModels #seminar is scheduled for Wednesday (Feb 25) at 12 CET. Boris Schröder-Esselbach (TU Berlin) will talk about #EcologicalModelling and how it provides key contributions to coastal #EcosystemServices and the restoration of seagrass meadows. Don't think twice, join us! 😊

  3. #seminar alert! ⏰

Next Tuesday, Frank Hilker from the University of Osnabrück will give a talk in our Ecology Colloquium entitled

"To connect or not connect isolated patches: Total population abundance and failed rescue effects in fragmented landscapes".

Everyone welcome, either in person or via Zoom, the more the merrier! 😀

  5. Something BIG has happened. Dear academic world, it is my huge honour to introduce the freshly awarded Dr. Franziska Koch. 🍾🥂

Franzi was the first PhD student student in my #ecoevo #modelling team. Yesterday, she defended her thesis about „the paradox of the bryozoans“ with ease and glory. Congratulations, Franzi!!! 🙌 🥳🎉

  6. NeoBiota neobiota.pensoft.net/ the journal which I have the pleasure and honour of being chief editor for the past 14 years, increased its Scopus CiteScore for the third consecutive year to now 8.1 (the journal's all-time high). This means we are in Q1 of #AnimalScience and #Zoology; #InsectScience; #AquaticScience; Ecology, #Evolution, Behavior and #Systematics; #PlantScience; #Ecology; and #EcologicalModelling.

  13. ...and another #seminar invitation: Avril Weinbach (postdoc in my team) will present her latest research on Tuesday, March 28, at 11 am:
“Eco-evolutionary responses of mutualistic systems to insect decline and changes in flowering phenology”.

This is a hybrid seminar, so please get in touch in case you would like to join and learn more about the methods that we use to study all sorts of #ecoevo dynamics!

  15. I wrote an article on the Northern Brown Argus project I did for my OU degree last year for @savebutterflies Scotland newsletter, it's in the latest one here:
    butterfly-conservation.org/in-

I'll be doing a short talk about it at the Scottish Recorders Gathering in Perth, Scotland on 18th March too.
